How much PAINSTOP DAY-TIME should I give?


The dosage is 6 hourly as needed or as prescribed. Select the correct dose from the chart below, based on age and weight, and keep to the recommended dose:

Is my child old enough to have PAINSTOP DAY-TIME?


PAINSTOP DAY-TIME is recommended for use with infants and children 12 months of age and older. For infants younger than 12 months of age, please speak to your doctor or pharmacist before using PAINSTOP DAY-TIME.


When should I not use PAINSTOP DAY-TIME?


Do NOT administer:

• To infants under 12 months of age
• More than 4 doses per 24 hour period
• For longer than 48 hours at a time unless advised to do so by your doctor
• With any other products containing paracetamol unless instructed to do so by your doctor



Can PAINSTOP DAY-TIME be used with other medications?


PAINSTOP DAY-TIME should NOT be taken with any other products containing paracetamol. Please speak to your doctor if your child is taking any other medication and confirm that it is appropriate to use PS Day at the same time as those medications.


My child has allergies so how do I know if PAINSTOP DAY-TIME is ok? 


PAINSTOP DAY-TIME is free from: nuts, fragrances, colourants, lactose, gluten, eggs, soy, dairy, and wheat.

What happens if too much PAINSTOP DAY-TIME is taken?


Too much PAINSTOP DAY-TIME or any other pain relief medication can cause serious side effects and can expose your child to potential liver and kidney damage. If an overdose is taken or suspected, contact the Poisons Information Centre (in Australia, call 131 126; in New Zealand call 0800 764 766) for advice or go to the nearest hospital immediately.


How do I know if my child has overdosed?


Symptoms of an overdose include severe nausea, vomiting, excessive sweating, drowsiness or hyperexcitability, yellowy eyes or skin, dark urine, stomach pain and convulsions. If an overdose is taken or suspected, contact the Poisons Information Centre (in Australia, call 131 126; in New Zealand call 0800 764 766) for advice or go to the nearest hospital immediately.


Will PAINSTOP DAY-TIME keep my child awake?


PAINSTOP DAY-TIME can still be used at night as it will not keep your child awake. However, if your child would benefit from sedation, PAINSTOP NIGHT-TIME may be recommended by your doctor or pharmacy.


What if my child has missed a dose?


Take a missed dose as soon as you remember but do not take if it's almost time for the next dose. Instead, skip the missed dose and resume the usual dosage schedule. Do not double-up the dose to make up for the missed one.


How long will it take before PAINSTOP DAY-TIME becomes effective?


Your child should start to feel relief within half an hour of the administered dose.


My child dislikes the taste of PAINSTOP DAY-TIME. What can I do?


Not all children like the taste of medications. If you call the NPS Medicines Line on 1300 888 763 (Available 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday). They will be able to advise what PAINSTOP DAY-TIME can be mixed with in order to make the product more palatable for your child.


How should PAINSTOP DAY-TIME be stored?


Keep in a cool place below 25 degrees Celsius. Do not refrigerate. Protect bottle from any light.
